Physical Education Term 3

Firstly well done to the foundation children, I am very impressed with the skills the children have demonstrated in the first two terms. Most of the children have good catching and balance skills which mean they are getting that practice from home and early childcare.

P.M.P perceptual motor program has also been completed for FOUNDATION this year and I think this has helped the children build their confidence and skills around balance, gym and spatial awareness.

Thank-you to the parents who had time to help, there is nothing better than being a witness to our child’s development and welfare.

This term the 1/2s will now have a chance to complete the program and again I am encouraging parents if they have time or an expertise to come and help and join in with the children in this program.

This is the timetable for the Wednesdays this term until the completion of the program. Talk to the class teacher if you want to be involved. Working with children’s and OHS checklist need to be completed to participate. (See the office to fill out, very easy and quick).

The 3/4s, 5/6 grades focus has been Athletics. Fridays sport we are doing a rotation of all the following sports 100m, 200m, high jump, shot putt, discuss, hurdles, relays. The children are training and trialling all through this term in between camps and then the Athletic Carnival at Coburg Stadium on Tuesday 23rd August. The teams will be finalised over this month.

The 3/4 s/5/6s will have a three week Lacrosse program facilitated by the Brunswick East Lacrosse Club, we already have 3 players who have joined the club and we are building a relationship with the club to get more children participating in a great team sport.

The senior children will finish this term last week in a new water awareness program organised through Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre, it’s a 2 hour intensive program challenging the children in water knowledge and skills.

A very busy term leading into spring. Thankyou and congratulations to the NAIDOC committee and the students for a wonderful celebration.
