Year 10

What is the subject about?

Students explore traditional photography including 35mm SLR camera functions, film developing and safe darkroom processing to create their best black and white prints. 

 

Students develop knowledge of composition and effective use of the design elements. 

 

We use digital SLR cameras, digital processing with Photoshop Creative Cloud and other media related software and we explore ideas about images and representation in the media.  Students will analyse photographic genres like portraiture and landscape using media language and research skills. 

 

Students will engage in a variety of practical filming tasks and will examine how the media and media technologies influence society and their lives, exploring the ever-changing media landscape. Students will become storytellers who create media with meaning.

Skills you will develop

  • Use technical skills in the production of film and photography presentations.
  • Experiment with a variety of production equipment like digital and analogue cameras and photographic darkroom processing.
  • Develop visual language to communicate ideas about individuals, groups and the world around us.
