Principal's Report

Camp Marysville

It was a delight to attend Camp Marysville this week with our level 3-6 students and staff.  I was pleased to see and hear students displaying our school values and their Friendology learning throughout the three days, with each other and the camp and school staff. Students demonstrated great persistence and resilience as they had a go at new and challenging tasks, and many of these in the rain.  While it was very wet, this certainly didn't stop any of the activities or enthusiasm, it actually appeared that getting wet and dirty in the puddles and mud made bike riding and bush walking more fun!

Well done to all students for your attendance and challenging yourself, I feel that there was something in the camp experience that was confronting for each student in one way or another.   For some it was staying away from the family at home for two nights, while others it was working with a new team or trying a new activity.  Students should feel proud of their effort and achievements.

A huge thank you to all of our staff who attended, Mr Baroni, Mr Moore, Mrs Mackney, Miss Cronin, Miss Davis, Ms Kim, Ms Barnes and Ms Robb.  We were very fortunate to have two parent helpers attend and help out, Aly and Nathan, and a Pre Service Teacher, Chelsea.  The camp would not have been possible without the hard work from all of these staff and volunteers; a very warm thank you to you for your dedication and care to each and every student on camp to support them to have the best camping experience as possible.

Parent Helper / Volunteer Training session

It's been great to have had a number of parents and grandparents attend our training sessions in the first week of term.   We will have another session next week, Wednesday 3 August at 6pm, this will be online.

The training session covers OHS and Child Safe Standard requirements, along with general tips to best support in the classroom.

By the start of term 4, the expectation is that all parents working with students at MPS must have complete the parent helper / volunteer training.   Parents must also provide a copy of their current WWC Check to the office.

Semester One Student Reports

Semester one reports were made live on Compass at the end of term 2.  If you haven't had an opportunity to read your child's report yet, you can download it from Compass, through the 'View Academic Reports' tab.

Emergency Drill

Over the past term, we have been updating our emergency management documentation. We will have now have an emergency drill to practice an evacuation procedure.  This will occur after lunch on Monday 1 August.  Given that it has been some time since the MPS community have participated in a whole school drill, we would like to let people know that this is happening.  You may like to talk to your child about this; we will also inform students at school to prepare them for this.
