House Cross Country

The Senior School ventured to Jells Park today for the Cross Country Carnival! This was the first carnival held in person since 2019. Every student raced brilliantly and the park was alive with House spirit and cheer.

A huge thank you has to go to the amazing staff who put everything together: Mrs Baynham, Mrs Sheehan, Mrs Deubel, Mr Johnson, Mr Clapp and Ms Beal. It was a smooth and successful carnival with sportsmanship and determination on show. Congratulations to all runners!

The results will be announced next week so stay tuned.

Indonesian Incursion

A wonderful Incursion Day for everyone. Students were truly engaged and immersed in the batik making workshop by Dias Prabu, Music, and Theatrical/ Dance Performances by Jaeko and Andika Ananda, and Doco-making workshop by Dewi Bukit. These artists are based in Jogjakarta, Indonesia and are part of Kultura Collectiva group. This art group is a combination of various art disciplines with the aim of raising the repertoire of local cultural arts and bring it globally.

Kultura Collectiva is travelling Australia, holding art exhibitions at Broken Hill City Art Gallery in NSW, Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane. They were part of a special program at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra marking the declaration of Indonesian Independence, in which Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, returned hundreds of culturally significant artefacts from an historic Indonesian shipwreck before making a very special visit to Huntingtower, the only school that the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne chose to visit in Victoria, very-well known of its Arts and Indonesian Language Programs.

Book week

The Senior Library has been buzzing this week as we celebrated all things books and reading for Book Week.

Over the course of the week, students have demonstrated their knowledge about books, famous authors, and characters by participating in Crossword, Word Search, and Trivia competitions. We congratulate our many winners on their literary knowledge and skill!

We also saw many students engaging with our Bookmark Creation Station, and taking the opportunity to add to the Our Shared Shelves display. It is wonderful to see how skilled and creative Huntingtower students are as they share their favourite books with us.

Finally, on Wednesday and Thursday this week, students eagerly visited the Library for lunchtime screenings of the film Coraline, adapted from the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman.

It has been so wonderful to see students getting involved and sharing their love of books and reading this week. Thank you everyone for participating, we hope you enjoyed Book Week as much as we did!

Mather Fundraiser

Well done to Mather house for holding their Comicon themed fundraiser last Friday. Special thanks goes to Mrs Douglas and the Year 12 Mather leaders who raised over $2000 for the Salvation Army.

Students had fun participating in a bake sale and activities such as Dungeons and Dragons, video games and estimating the number of chocolates. There was also a bubble tea stall, costume competition and charity table tennis match between Mr Jones and Sarup (Year 12).

Not to mention that Mr Tan (Spider-Tan) kindly volunteered to be taped to the wall, which added to a very entertaining day!

Year 10 Barista Course and CPR Training
