GALA CONCERT

Tuesday night will see the culmination of months of rehearsals when all our Middle School and Senior School ensembles (together with two Junior School ensembles) present the biggest concert of the year. Please see the attached poster if you haven’t organised your (free) tickets yet. The PAC will be quite full with over 250 students involved on stage and about twice this number in the audience! The event commences at 7:30pm sharp and should conclude around 9:30pm. There will be a 20-minute interval, at which refreshments will be available to purchase.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the 24 students who participated in the Pit Orchestra for the recent production of Matilda the Musical. The quality they produced was a testament to the hard work they undertook to play a professional-level score seemingly with ease. The experience of having to concentrate for an hour at a time, work together to make any necessary adjustments on the fly, and support a wonderful cast was very rewarding and something they won’t forget in a hurry. I encourage all our music students to work towards participating in the pit the next time we do a musical in 2024!

One member of the pit orchestra undertook his Piano AMEB AMusA exam during the busy rehearsals phase in the week prior to opening night and achieved a Distinction! Well done to Nathan M, who is in Year 8, for achieving such a brilliant result at such a young age. I look forward to further fine performances and musical interactions in the months and years ahead!

2023 ENSEMBLES STARTS TERM 4!

In Term 4, once we lose the Year 12 students to their VCE Exams, the 2023 ensembles will commence. More details will be forthcoming soon, as there will be a little reshuffling of the options for some Middle School students, and the Symphony Orchestra may involve an audition process for some instruments. This will all be communicated to those affected after the Gala Concert has taken place.
