Unit of Work
'We are Innovative Designers'
This term our Unit of Work is ‘We are Innovative Designers’.
This unit focuses on creating innovative ideas and using the Design Process to help solve real life problems or satisfy a need.
The Key Understandings of this Unit are:
- Investigate and compare innovative ideas, considering their effectiveness to meet needs, their cost and impact on the environment
- Create innovative solutions to a problem, considering its sustainability and the impact it would have on the environment
- Follow the steps of the Design Process
- Students develop success criteria to evaluate their innovation and to justify the purpose of its features
- Students consider the viability of potentially producing their design (could someone actually make this? Why/Why not?)
- Students communicate and share their design to showcase their innovative idea
