Literacy 

In Reading, we will: 

  • Use Top Level Structures to summarise the important ideas in the text
  • Respond to our reading by participating in discussions to clarify ideas, share opinions and evaluate information
  • Read and analyse texts with figurative and connotative language (symbolism, metaphors, similes, hyperboles)
  • Share our inferences and interpretations of the texts we read

In Writing, we will: 

  • Reread our writing and take pride in the content and presentation of our Writer's Notebook
  • Identify parts of our writing that can be enhanced and apply sophisticated writing techniques used in mentor texts
  • Carefully revise and edit our pieces for publication
