Oliver Jnr. Update

Caitlin Lunnon & Jordann West

We are one week away from opening night of our College Production – ‘Oliver Jr’.  The past few months have been challenging, exciting, tiring and filled with anticipation of the opening show!

Our set has been completed which has allowed the cast to block their scenes and choreography in the space which they will be performing in. Many hours have been dedicated to this build, so a big thank you must be given to our set design and construction team, led by Mr O’Connor.

Mia M (Year 11 student) has been leading the way with the help of Nikita, Gracie, Ash, Clover and Liv to put together a fantastic array of costumes for our cast to showcase on the night. Their dedication to costumes has been fabulous and the cast are very grateful for their help!

Thursday night rehearsals, some going until 8:30pm, lunchtime rehearsals and 7-hour Saturday rehearsals have allowed the students to master their singing, acting and choreography for the show.  We cannot wait for you to see it!!

We also had the pleasure of heading out to see ‘& Juliet’ at the Regent Theatre on 19th July. This was an eye-opening experience for our students, who also had the opportunity to ask the cast and crew for advice in preparation for ‘Oliver Jr’.

From Jolyon S (Year 11) – Mr. Fagin:

I signed up to be in the show because I thought it would be an excellent experience to be a part of a musical, and I was really excited to be able to work with lots of different people to create a whole show.    In order to get prepared to play Mr. Fagin, I worked really hard on listening, practicing my lines, and studying other people’s performances to help develop my character. I also worked with Darcy to share ideas and build a more engaging depiction of the role.   I have really loved being able to work with such a range of people and make so many new friendships. I am most looking forward to show night. I think it’s going to be an excellent experience.   Whilst it was a real struggle to put in all the effort we needed to be able to make the show run the best we could, it was heaps of fun at the same time. I’m really going to miss being able to work with so many amazing people on such a cool project.
