Book Week - Read, Grow, Inspire!

The Great Ryrie Great Book Swap

On Wednesday 2nd August, we will be holding our first ever Great Ryrie Great Book Swap!

In the lead up to the day, children are asked to bring in 1-2 books, in good condition, to donate to the swap.

The classroom teacher will hold onto the collection.

On the day, we will display the books on a table with a donation box. We will set a time for everyone to browse for a book they would like to take in exchange for a gold coin donation. We will assign some reading time afterwards to enjoy the new books.

The money raised will go to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation - a national charity of the Australian book industry, working with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities across the Nation. They respond to requests from remote Communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.

The JSC will be organising this event!

Book Week Dress up and Parade 2023 (July 31st – August 4th)

We will be celebrating Book Week a little early this year due to our whole school swimming program running at the same time. During the week we will celebrate the theme ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’ and encourage students to share their favourite books.

With thanks to the amazingly talented illustrator Matt Ottley, the 2023 CBCA Children's Book Week ® theme "Read, grow, inspire" comes to life in the striking flying hero seahorse carrying young readers through an endless, boundary-less, sunlight lit space where imagination has unlimited scope for growth and infinite possibility.

We’d like to invite all of our students  to dress up as their favourite book character on Wednesday, 2nd of August.  Please feel free to join us for our Book Week Parade in the Sports and Performance Center at 9am that morning. We look forward to seeing how creative the students can be and celebrating the importance that books play in our everyday lives. This will be followed by The Great Ryrie Great Book Swap!
