Speech Pathologist at GRPS

We would like to welcome Speech Pathologist (SP) Nataly Betancur to Great Ryrie Primary School on Wednesdays this term.

Now a little bit about what she does in her role as an SP. According to the Speech Pathology Association:

“Speech pathologist study, diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering and using voice.”

There are vast areas of practice that they focus on, and they work with children of all ages and presentations (e.g., typically developing, neurodiverse, deaf, late-talkers, etc). Speech pathologists can also support teachers and classroom aides in providing a whole-classroom approach.

Nataly's focus for Term 3 will be on assessing the Foundation students (i.e., in language and articulation).

We look forward to working with her for remainder of the 2023 school year!

The JSC advocated for new basketball backboards and rings and Mr MacCartney has delivered! The children were excited to get out in the yard and use these wonderful new resources.
