Welcome Back

Welcome Back to Term 3.

It's an exciting term with the Generation Gap rehearsals in full swing!

After the cancellation of the show due to the pandemic, we are eagerly waiting for the performances from both casts. Mrs Murray you are a superstar enabling the GRPS students to have so many opportunities to showcase their talents.

Please check the Production News Page for important information regarding ticket sales, rehearsals and performances.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new families that have joined the Great Ryrie community this term.

NAIDOC Celebrations

NAIDOC Week is an Indigenous-led celebration of the history, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The national NAIDOC theme for 2023, 'For Our Elders', recognises that across every generation, Elders have played and continue to play an important role and hold a prominent place in communities and families. Elders are cultural Knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and are held in high esteem by the communities that they live and work in.

We have been learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heroes, communities, cultures, and histories.

Some of our Year 4 students have their work on display at the Realm Library. The task was to create leaves with words of inspiration with their thoughts of NAIDOC Week. Together with our network schools the leaves were part of a tree display that was created as a collaborative project.

Celebration of Student Excellence

We have some future champions at Great Ryrie Primary School.

Matilda has just won the title of Victorian State Champion in Calisthenics.

Matilda has been dancing since she was 3 years old and has taken up Calisthenics in the last 3 years. Matilda won the Solo Competition being judged as the best in Victoria. Matilda is very humble about her success, but I managed to track her down today to acknowledge such a great achievement.

Matilda now aspires to compete at the National Championships.

Rylan has been selected in the U12 Victorian Boys Netball Team, to represent the state in the Australian Competition in Perth in September.

Rylan will be completing some extensive training at the State Netball Centre at Royal Park over the next few months in preparation for the competition.  This is an incredible achievement, and we wish you all the very best.

Enjoy the weekend with your family and friends
