Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Tomorrow is the last day of the Term and 1st Semester. The children have done a great job working hard right through to the very end, particularly in this very cold last week! On behalf of all the staff I would like to thank and congratulate the children on their fantastic achievements. I would also like to thank the parents for their contributions and ongoing support in the education of their children. We pray that everyone has a safe and restful holiday and that we all return refreshed and ready to start the second half of the year.

Lord,

As we approach our mid-year holidays, we pray for ourselves and for our world.

We thank you for the luxury of holidays, for refreshment and rest from work.

We pray for those without the luxury of holidays. May your peace be known in their daily lives.

We pray for health and for all whose holiday is an escape from over-busy or unfulfilled lives.

We pray for justice and fairness for those in our third world countries who are underpaid and overworked, and struggle to support their families.

Lord, make yourself known to us afresh, that all our days may become holy days, to the glory of your name.

Amen.

Learning Conversations

On Tuesday and Wednesday Learning Conversations were held in the school library. This was a great opportunity for children, parents and teachers to celebrate and discuss overall achievements throughout the first half of the year, and to look at future goals as we move into second semester. Thank you to all parents for your support of this method of reporting. The response again has been extremely positive and we look forward to holding them again at the end of Term 4.

Refugee Week

This week we have been celebrating Refugee Week. This initiative provides a platform for the children to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of culture, respect, inclusiveness and tradition. The theme this year is ‘Finding Freedom.’ This is something that is very relevant to our school community.

Lord,

No one is a stranger to you and no one is ever far from your loving care. In your kindness watch over refugees and asylum seekers, those separated from their loved ones, those who are lost, and those who have been exiled from their homes.

Amen.

Fun Food / Casual Clothes Day

A reminder that tomorrow is Fun Food Day and the children will be served hot dogs in bread, so please don’t pack too much into their lunch boxes. The children are also invited to wear casual clothes for the final day of the term.

Swimming P-2 Program

A reminder to all parents that our P-2 swimming program commences in the second week of next term. The children will go every Thursday from the 20th July to 31st August. Please look on PAM to give permission for your child to participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, can you let the office know ASAP, as we have to finalise numbers before the end of term.

Staff Changes

As you may already be aware, our Prep teacher Dani Allan is expecting her first child next term. Dani’s maternity leave will commence starting week 3 of next term.

I am very pleased to announce that Adam Garner will be Dani’s replacement for the remainder of the 2023 school year starting week 4 of next term. Adam has been working as a LSO at Sacred Heart Colac for the past 3 years while completing his teacher training, and on completion of his course has recently had teaching experience in the Prep classrooms at Sacred Heart Colac. This term Adam has been teaching Grade 4 at Clairvaux Catholic School in Belmont.

We wish Adam all the best in his new role and know he will be well supported by our parent community. We also wish Dani and Xavier well on the birth of their first child.

Also, as of next term there will be a slight change in Grade 3 Deb/Lauren. Lauren will be teaching 1 day per week (Thursday) and Deb will be teaching 4 days (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri).

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a restful holiday break with your families.
