ASX School Share Market Game

Middle School Wealth and Work students were given the opportunity to participate in the ASX School Share Market Game. They could compete individually or as part of team. Students were given a virtual $50,000 which they could invest over a 10-week period, in over 300 companies listed on the ASX. The prices students could buy and sell were at the same prices as they would get in the live market - so this is as close to real life share trading as you can get.

By participating in the game students were able to develop their knowledge of the share market, learn how to research companies, discover the importance of wise investment decisions, gain a greater knowledge of economic and world events, and begin to learn more about investing which is beneficial for their future.

A total of 9,899 students participated in this game, with involvement of 409 teachers and 262 schools.

Year 9 LEAD Incursion

The Year 9 Semester 1 LEAD class was lucky enough to have completed a workshop with somebody from ABC who is involved in running Takeover Melbourne. This is an initiative by ABC that encourages young Australians to share the stories that make them who they are.

In the workshop, we watched a few videos from the previous winners of Takeover Melbourne (including the incredible Jorden Lancaster of Year 12). The workshop allowed us to think about the people, events, and habits that can contribute into defining us as individuals, and how we might tell that as a story. It was quite fun to listen to other people telling their stories and learning just that much more about them, and also getting to share something that was special to ourselves with others.
