L.O.T.E. - Mandarin

你好 (nǐ hǎo), everyone! Welcome to Term 3 Mandarin. 

Foundation 

  • Recognise and properly pronounce eleven body parts including ‘head', 'hair', ‘eyes’, ‘nose’, ‘mouth’, ‘ears’, ‘hand’, ‘fingers’, ‘tummy’, ‘bottom’ and ‘feet’.
  • Song: My body
  • Activity: Origami 

Grade 1

  • Name 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals in the correct order including rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
  • Story: The Race of Chinese Zodiac Animals
  • Song: Two Tiger
  • Activity: Paper cutting

Grade 2

  • Understand the basic rules of naming the three-digit and four-digit numbers (0-9999) and read any number from 0-9999 in Mandarin. 
  • Recognise and use simple questions and sentences including ‘How much’, ‘Too expensive’, ‘A bit cheaper please’ and ‘What do you want’ to buy & sell products and bargain.
  • Activity: Chinese Supermarket War (Money game)

Grade 3

  • Recognize and name 13 western foods and 12 Chinese foods.
  • Understand the basic rules of naming the three-digit and four-digit numbers (0-9999) and read any number from 0-9999 in Mandarin. 
  • Recognise and properly use simple questions and sentences including ‘How much’, ‘Too expensive’, ‘A bit cheaper please’ and ‘What do you want’ to buy & sell products, bargain and bid in auctions. 
  • Activity: My Restaurant Rules (Money game)

Grade 4

  • Recognize and name 11 ball sports and 9 Olympic sports.
  • Understand the basic rules of naming the three-digit and four-digit numbers (0-9999) and read any number from 0-9999 in Mandarin. 
  • Recognise and properly use simple questions and sentences including ‘How much’, ‘Too expensive’, ‘A bit cheaper please’ and ‘What do you want’ to buy & sell products, bargain and bid in auctions. 
  • Activity: Pump Up (Money game)

Grade 5

  • Recognize and name 21 countries.
  • Understand the basic rules of naming the three-digit and four-digit numbers (0-9999) and read any number from 0-9999 in Mandarin. 
  • Recognise and properly use simple questions and sentences including ‘How much’, ‘Too expensive’, ‘A bit cheaper please’ and ‘What do you want’ to buy & sell products, bargain and bid in auctions. 
  • Activity: Around the World (Money game)

Grade 6

  • Recognize and name 9 school facilities: classroom, toilet, office, sick bay, staffroom, oval, parking lot, gym and library.
  • Recognize and name 3 school staff roles and 7 school subjects.
  • Ask ‘Yes or No’ questions and questions about ‘who’ and ‘where’ in sentences
  • Understand the basic rules of naming the three-digit and four-digit numbers (0-9999) and read any number from 0-9999 in Mandarin. 
  • Activity 1: Panda Quiz (Scavenger hunt) 
  • Activity 2: School Tycoon (Money game)
