Term 3, Week 2

Welcome to Term 3 of PE and Sport at BPS!

Sunshine and holidays, the perfect combination!

I can't believe the difference the sunshine makes! My Beautiful wife and I celebrated our long awaited honeymoon on the Sunshine Coast over the two week holiday period and it was just what we needed. I'm not sure about you but I think I might suffer from 'seasonal affective disorder' during the winter days and nights in Melbourne. Don't get me wrong, I love our cosmopolitan state with it's amazing combination of eateries, people and of course yummy coffee but there's something about the Sunshine Coast with it's warm weather (it didn't get below 22 degrees while we were there), coastal views and the vibe that comes with all of those experiences. Our most favourite moments were the quality time, slower pace and being a stones throw from the beach, not to mention that we experienced a new place that neither of us had been to! We're grateful to have such a wonderful experience together when we know not everyone is in a position to go away. I hope your holidays were restful with your family and your children have enjoyed the first week of term. Let's make it a great one hey!! GO TEAM BPS!!!

Ethan pads up for Red Devils at Vic Champs!

Grade 4 BPS student and hockey player, Ethan, spent some of his term 2 holidays saving goals at the Victorian Junior State Hockey Championships in Footscray. Held at the Footscray Hockey Centre on the 1st and 2nd July, Ethan was selected as goalkeeper for the U12s North East Metro Red Devils Black team.  Across Victoria, there are nine zone teams across Victoria, 6 metro and 3 country teams, and his team was one of 14 U12s Hockey 5s teams competing at this level.  Ethan and his team played seven games in two days and came their team came 9th overall.

Congratulations on your outstanding achievements Ethan and the hardwork you continue to put into your training. Being a hockey goalie is no easy task but you're taking it all in your stride Ethan! Well done!!

Australian Shot Put Champ in our midst!

A big thank you to Gail Miller, one of our amazing parents at BPS, who has volunteered her time to come in and coach some of our students in our athletics unit in both shot put and discus. Gail's passion for her sport is evident in the way she makes the sessions fun and engaging for our students. We also have learnt so much from Gail!

Back in the early 2000's, Gail won the Australian women's 2005/2006 Australian shot put championship and was also a very handy discus and hammer thrower. Gail achieved much success at National Level and is now imparting her passion for throwing events to our youngsters.

We want to day thank you for your time and we hope you keep coming back to help us be the best we can be!!!

The Pixies won their game 14-2, outplaying their opposition in all areas of the court! Well done to our BPS players Alisha, Aadya, Reet, Shreya, Mary, Hannah and Celeste! Our Dragons, who beat Laburnum, were the under-dogs going into the Grand Final but showed such courage, perseverance and a "never give up attitude" that saw them come out on top by 1 point!! The score was 16-15 and Coach Kirsty Porter made note of the team's perseverance and courage to battle it out all game in her end of game speech.
