Interested in apprenticeships in 2024???

Come along to AGA and learn more and even sign-up for 2024 apprenticeship opportunities.

We are excited to invite your students and families to this upcoming information evening.

AGA is providing students and their families an opportunity to learn more about traineeships & apprenticeships across all industries along with the opportunity to sign-up for a 2024 commencement.

At AGA, we believe in the power of apprenticeships, as they provide valuable practical experience, industry-specific expertise, and the opportunity to earn a salary all while achieving a qualification.  This approach ensures that young individuals are equipped for long-term success in their chosen professions.

Our information session aims to share the opportunities available through various fields/industries. During the event, we will cover the following key aspects:

  • Introduction to Apprenticeships: An overview of the apprenticeship program, including its benefits and significance in shaping a rewarding career.
  • Industry Trends and Job Prospects: Gain valuable insights into the current and future demands for skilled professionals in the electrical, automotive, carpentry and plumbing sectors.
  • Apprenticeship Programs Offered: Discover the specific apprenticeship programs available at AGA and learn about the entry requirements, duration, and learning outcomes for each trade.
  • Q&A Session: An opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts you or your child may have regarding the apprenticeship opportunities.

 Date:                 Wednesday 9th August

Time:                 6pm – 7pm

Location:          AGA , LOT 1 Kurrle St, Korumburra VIC 3950

We have invited industry experts, experienced mentors, and successful apprentices to share their experiences and provide guidance throughout the session.

We will be offering apprenticeship opportunities across several industries & trades including electrical, automotive, carpentry, plumbing, including non-trade industries.

University Open days

Now is the time to start planning your visits to University open days. Following is a list of dates that have been released so far. Some of these universities require pre-registration, so be sure to look at the website for all the details.

VTAC

Year 12 students will be attending an information session hosted by the College careers team during pastoral on Tuesday, July 25. The session will explain in detail, how to register with VTAC, so University and TAFE preferences can be added. We will also go through applying for SEAS, scholarships and accommodation. All year 12 students need to bring their laptops for this session.

Before students can open a VTAC account, they will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Applying for a USI is a quick and simple process. Go to: https://www.usi.gov.au/

Once you have a USI, you can apply for a VTAC account: https://delta.vtac.edu.au/registration/apply

Important VTAC dates are shown below.

Year 12 Careers Interviews

August 21, a student-free day for our College, will be the day we host interviews for our year 12 students and their families, to discuss their intentions for next year. All students will be invited to make a booking, similar to parent-teacher interviews, with a nominated careers teacher or a member of the Senior School leadership team. More information regarding these interviews will be sent home in a letter via PAM.

 Year 10 Students

Work Experience

Congratulations to all the year 10 students who successfully completed a week of work experience. The feedback we received was very positive. Students applied to a great range of workplaces and hopefully gained some valuable insight into the world of work.

Career planning and subject selection

The next stage in the subject selection process is the Subject Expo on Monday, July 31st in the Senior School building. In addition to all of our key learning areas, there will be representatives from AGA, MAS and Gipps TAFE. All of these organisations can speak to the VET programs they offer and support for students looking to follow a vocational pathway.
