Expectation

When a 10-year-old student arrived at Huntingtower from New Zealand with no seeming ability to read it would have been easy to label him ‘slow’, ‘backward’, ‘behind.’  Fortunately, the environment of high expectation saw him fully graduate with a good pass in English.

A long time Huntingtower Teacher once said:

"Every teacher knows that the unforgettable moment is always waiting to happen in the classroom."

What expectation! What a love for learning! The basis for this expectation rests firmly in the stated values of Huntingtower. “Every child expresses the infinite intelligence of God and as such they are unlimited. We encourage every child to use their innate intelligence, and have it expressed in everything they do.”

The only label that we want to place on a child is that they are unlimited. The more we expect students to achieve as a result of their God-given ability the more they and we will experience.

Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, likened desire or expectation to prayer, especially when those expectations aligned with the idea that we are all perfect, unlimited expressions of infinite God, good.

What expectation shall we attach to ourselves or our children?

"When the destination is desirable, expectation speeds our progress."
