School Improvements Over The Holidays

Two New Flagpoles

You may have noticed two new flagpoles installed over the holidays. These two flagpoles will fly the Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag which fly alongside the Australian flag as a sign of love and respect of the Wurundjeri culture and heritage and all indigenous Australians.

We are planning to build a memorial garden around the flagpoles. A group of students will work with Ms Gasbarro to organise this garden and an official opening to coincide with this year's Remembrance Day. This will be a special area for our students and community to remember our heritage and cultures on days like ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, NAIDOC week, Reconciliation Week and Saint Fidelis' Day.

Signage Around The School

As a result of an OHS school audit, we have placed schools signs around the school that require all the community to follow;

  1. No dogs allowed on the school grounds
  2. No smoking within 4 metres of the school gates
  3. Chemical and Hazardous signage (were placed where required)
  4. Cleaners signage (where required)
  5. Playground Rules near the playground equipment  (these rules to be followed and adhered to by everyone) including before and after school hours.
  6. Commitment to Child Safety Sign (in front entrance of main administration office  and entrance Foyer of the Senior Learning Area (SLA)

All these signs help maintain a safe school environment for our children and all our community members.

Stage Two -  Library Upgrade

We have almost completed the drawings for Stage Two library upgrade. All going well we should have a beautiful library upgrade by the end of Term 3. Thank you to Anthony Brazel who has been coordinating and  designing this project.

We will be asking for some volunteers to assist with shelving books once we are ready. A huge thank you to the Parents and Friends fundraising efforts and all the community for your support which has allowed this project to proceed. I will keep you informed as the project progresses.

Have a lovely week and welcome back,

Manuela
