Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary School,
Thank you to Pam Wright for ably leading the school as Principal throughout Term 3. Thank you also to Christine Hemsley for taking on the role of AP, as well as the entire staff for their support.
The school functions well for a great many reasons but a significant factor is that we have respect for each other and are always willing to pull together as a team. All of us at IPS strive to be adaptable, model enthusiasm, commitment, be open in our communication and work toward a shared vision of excellence for every student.
Victorian schools are struggling with staffing, with around 1000 teaching positions vacant. While we are fortunate to have terrific relationships with teachers able to replace staff who are ill or, from time to time on leave. Please be aware that while we do our best to maintain stability in our classes and across programs, your child's class may be lead by a variety of replacement staff.
We are in a much better position than most Victorian schools because we value relationships, and our focus remains on best practice teaching and learning. Thank you for your continued support.
What we have noticed post COVID is a significant drop in people’s capacity to help with some of our events and activities. I don't believe this is peculiar to our school. Rather, I suspect this a trend across all sectors. If you can, please join in opportunities to lend your support to our school. All children love to see their parents involved in school activities.
That said, the Year 3 - 6 Athletics Day will be held at Collingwood Athletics track next Thursday. Parents are welcome to attend. Mr Bull would appreciate some parent helpers contacting him prior to the event to help with some of the activities if you are able to.
Niño Early Learning Adventures Ivanhoe is a childcare and kindergarten in Tate Street. The centre is very limited in their access to play space so we invited their children over for a play date with our Foundation students. What a lovely opportunity to observe our youngest students exercising their social skills in cooperative play and introducing them to the Treehouse..
Junior School Councillors & Environmental Leaders
We will be acknowledging our Semester 2 Junior School Councillors and Environmental Leaders at this coming Monday’s assembly. Parents are welcome to attend.

You can also purchase on the day at the track .
For all students not attending athletics day you can still purchase a lunch order at school by selecting LUNCH menu on the APP.
