German Student Exchange Program
Our students' perspectives
From early last term to the end of April, I had the opportunity to host an exchange student from Germany. This was a great experience for me, as I was able to meet someone new and form connections with someone from across the globe. Not only was it super rewarding to be able to show Marie around our city, but I was also able to practice my German skills with a native speaker. One of my favourite parts about hosting Marie was sharing all of my favourite parts about Australia that she doesn’t have in Germany, like the beach, footy, Aussie music, and of course, Australian snacks (she wasn’t a fan of vegemite).
I have already had so much fun, and I have only completed half of the exchange program so far. In November, I will travel to Germany to stay with Marie and her family for two months. This will be my first time going overseas and I’ll be doing it without my family, so I’m definitely feeling nervous but also super excited to be stepping outside my comfort zone and trying something new. I will be staying in a town called Landshut, which is around an hour away from Munich, Bavaria. I’m excited to be able to experience a different culture and lifestyle and meet new people. I will be in Germany over Christmas and New Years, so it will also be very exciting to experience these holidays in a new country and experience new traditions. This is also going to be a great opportunity to strengthen my language skills and learn heaps of new things. I can’t wait to see what this opportunity holds for me and to share my adventures with everyone!

Last year in my German classes we were offered to apply to a German exchange. The exchange involves German students coming to Australia for 8 weeks in February to April and Australian students going to Germany for 8 weeks between November and January at the end of this year. After a matching process I was matched with Marie. Weeks before the exchange we had been in contact over apps such as Whatsapp and Instagram. We were both nervous about meeting each other in real life for the first time, but quickly we overcame this fear and Marie adapted to life in Australia very well. In Australia we took Marie to see many iconic Australian attractions such as the big rocking horse, and an AFL game. It was very sad when Marie had to go back to Germany but I'm looking forward to seeing her again. I will be staying with Marie in Kempten which is a half hour drive from the Austrian border. While in Germany I'll get the chance to go to a German school and improve my language skills. I'm a bit nervous because I've never been this far from Australia for such a long time but mainly I am very excited because this is a once in a life time opportunity. I can't wait to go on exchange. I would strongly recommend people finding an exchange to get involved in as you will meet people and make memories that will last for the rest of your life.

Senior Music Solo Night
The Year 11/12 Solo Night was held on Thursday 11th May at 7pm. This night was a chance for senior Music students to perform pieces they’ve been working on throughout the term to be assessed for SACE.
Students displayed a variety of styles and technical skills on a range of instruments to our family, friends and staff. This event can be quite nerve wracking, so we congratulate all participating students on a successful night. We’d also just like to thank Thomas Saunders, the piano teacher, for accompanying us and Cameron Barrett for filming the evening.
Cabaret: Party Like it's 1998!
On Friday evening on the 26th of May, Endeavour College took a trip down memory lane with our annual Cabaret night where we celebrated the College’s 25th anniversary with the theme ‘Party Like its 1998.’
It was definitely a blast and we partied hard! Students from Years 9-12 (plus a couple of Year 8s) and some old scholars had a chance to show off not only their music skills but their dance skills. The night featured music from a range of 90s artists, including the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more!
Our incredible Year 9 and 10 Bands, Show Band, Senior Vocal Ensemble, Big Band, Rock Band and Funk Band each performed, and really helped bring each of these amazing 90s hits alive.
We also had old scholar Michael Finn (class of 2022) performing Cher’s ‘Believe’ and old scholar Gianna Palumbo (class of 2017) rocking it out on stage with the Rock Band!
As well as some awesome music, we surprised everyone with a flashmob to the song Everybody (Backstreets Back) by the Backstreets Boys. We all pulled out our best dance moves and killed it on the dance floor! Throughout the night there were plenty of opportunities to get us out of our chairs and dance the night away. We also had incredible costumes from all students, teachers and guests on the night, I almost thought it was 1998 again.
Thank you to all who came along to the performance, and to all the amazing musicians on the night. And a big thanks to Ms Stanley and Ms Molloy for all the effort and planning that went into the night. We appreciate the time and effort spent to make this the best night of the year. Thank you to Mr Wooldridge, Ms Stanley and Callum Unger for directing all our bands and your dedication to us.
Overall, the night was incredible and super enjoyable for everyone, and we can’t wait to see Mr Wooldridge dancing in the flashmob next year!?

We eat with our Eyes
Recently the Stage 2 Integrated Learning Food and Hospitality Class created a dessert suitable for a dessert bar based on the statement 'we eat with our eyes.'
This statement explores the impact that social media has had upon dessert bars in particular and the elements that a dessert needs to be successful on social media.
Four student groups researched social media and its impacts, creating a dessert to meet this challenge.
