VCAL UPDATE

CONGRATULATIONS to all Year 12 VCAL students who have finished with formal classes this week! 13 years of schooling has come to an end. We are so proud of each of you and are in awe of the resilience and persistence you have shown over the past 2 years. I cannot wait to be clients of all your fantastic businesses in the future. Don't be a stranger and please drop into school anytime.

BEST OF LUCK!!

Any student who still has course work to complete will have until 22nd October (end of week 3 Term 4) to submit this work to their teachers. For the first 3 weeks of Term 4 we will have a VCAL staff member available each session to assist any students who require support to complete overdue tasks.

Charity of choice project:

Our VCAL Year 12 students this term worked in a team to come up with an innovative project to deliver. The aim was to produce a good or service for the EMC staff and raise money for a charity of their choice. The goods and services that students came up with across our 3 classes included inspirational bookmarks, candles, cup cakes, dog biscuits, decorative mugs, a gym session and a smash room. The fair to sell their goods and services was scheduled for 9 September and due to COVID it had to be cancelled.

Three groups of students have continued with their project and are offering it to teachers in a COVID friendly fashion. Thanks to Abbey Cuzens for creating the macramé plant holders in consultation with her team mates Sahara Duff and Maddy Lea;  Cooper Jamous for making his Grandma’s sweet middle Eastern biscuits and Valerie Andruisak for creating astrology bracelets in consultation with Declann Aiton and Tameka Langdon.

VCAL interviews and presentations:

Year 11 and 12 VCAL students will be participating in a mock job interview as well as a VCAL reflection presentation in Term 4. The interview and presentation schedule has been posted to the students Compass under their class resources. Year 12 will be in the first 3 weeks of Term 4 and Year 11s during the exam period. Classes will be cancelled during this time but any student who has not completed all set learning tasks will be required in Redemption. We are hoping to run these on site but will depend on restrictions.

Structured Workplace Learning has been cancelled while we are in lockdown. A communication will be sent if this news changes.
