Middle C are learning about Force and Motion

Force is when you use another force or something to push something and it moves because of your force. Force normally involves push or pull. Isaac Newton created the laws of motion.

Three laws of motion are, inertia, motion and force; they were created in 1686 by Isaac Newton.

I have learned about different motions and that a force is a push or pull. If you bounce a basketball on the ground it will change direction. I have also learnt that if you go super fast with your car it might nearly fly but because of aerodynamics the car stays on the road. A Formula 1 car that goes super fast can drive upside down on a roof if the roof was long enough for the car to get to top speed. The car is designed to have downward force. I also learnt that forces let humans talk, run and walk and without forces the world would be still and silent. AsherA thing will stay in the same position until a force pushes it. If you have a golf ball it will stay in the same position until it gets hit by something. Austin

When you want to move something you have to use force or it will stay still. If you kick something like a ball it will stay at the same speed till something slows it down. If you drop something then gravity will pull it down unlike in space if you drop something then it will stay floating.

Motion is when something moves in a different direction or changes shape etc. For example when a person walks forwards, that's motion, or when a dog lifts their paw that’s also motion. Motion is basically when something moves or changes position. Diaz
If an object does not have force on it, it will not move. If you do put force on something it will move but if it is a heavy object it will take more force to move it. ElliottForce is like if you push something and it falls. That's a force, or if you kick someone and it hurts, that's a force or if you bounce a ball and it bounces back up that’s also a force. Evelyn
Newton's Second Law of Motion says that acceleration (gaining speed) happens when a force acts on a mass (object).  FelixI learnt that force is like cause and effect. For example if I pushed a pencil off a table the cause is I pushed the pencil off the table and the effect is it landed on the floor and it made a noise. Kiara
I learnt that motion is moving from one place to another. Motion can be very slow, very fast and everything in between. For example, if I run from the start of a basketball court then go to the end fast or slow, it doesn't matter - it’s still motion. This is because I'm still using force and motion to get a result. LennixForce is pull and push. When the wind blows a sailboat it is using the force of push. When gravity pulls a pear to the ground that is also force. Liesel
If something stays on top of the water then it floats and if something stays on the bottom of the water then it sinks. Water pushes the light object up and pushes the heavy, dense object down. When an object sits in the water, the water pushes underneath it creating an upward force called buoyancy. Matthew

If you drop a water bottle, it will fall to the ground. If you shake a tree, leaves will fall off. This is all because of gravity. If gravity was not a thing then if you shook a tree, the leaves wouldn’t fall off and drop to the ground. Gravity is a type of force.

Pressure is a way of measuring how much force is acting over an area. A strong push on a small area creates high pressure, while a weak push spread out over a large area creates only a little pressure.

Pressure is a way of measuring how much force is acting over an area. Pressure is defined to be the amount of force exerted per area. So to create a large amount of pressure, you can either exert a large force or exert a force over a small area (or do both). In other words, you might be safe lying on a bed of nails if the total surface area of all the nail tips together is large enough. Poppy

Weight is a force. Weight determines how much gravity pushes it down. Mass is used to find how much stuff is in something. Renee

Look at Renee’s model that illustrates the forces of push and pull.

A force is a push or a pull. An example is if you hit a ball it will not stop because of the force. Gravity is the force that slows down the motion of the ball. SamForce and Newton's law of motion impact our lives from the blood in our bodies to powering up a rocket ship to space! For something to be moving it has to be pushed by something else. Some examples of force are gravity, mass, pressure and friction. Sophia
When I read the force and motion article on dkfindout, I learnt the equation for Newton’s second law of motion is force = Mass x Acceleration. This  actually means that a force will push or pull an object depending on its mass and on the direction and pressure of a given force. I also learnt that Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity. Susie

Have you ever wondered how planes fly, how do such heavy machines fly? Planes fly because of drag, thrust, lift and gravity. They also try to build the plane more slim to make it faster and to cut through the air to make less air resistance. The runway allows the plane to accelerate and then fly in the air. The tail fins hold the plane level so that it will not fall down again. Engines push out air to make the plane move.
