Book Week headlines Remote Learning!

Each year since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week.  Dress-ups always feature as a favourite event during this time and although this year has been far different the effort involved from the community was incredible.

Students on and off-site dressed up as their favourite book characters and shared their costumes on our school's Facebook page or with an email to their teacher/s.  Staff got into the spirit too and Mrs Priestley added an additional element with her read-alouds.

Year 4 Virtual Camp

Much to everyone's great disappointment our Year 4 camp needed to be held virtually this year.   As unfortunate as this was, the resilience shown by students, parents, and staff was inspiring.  The Year 4 team worked exceptionally hard to brainstorm and create ways to make the week a fun experience in a difficult time for students.  Whole cohort bingo and kahootz events were enjoyed, and students were encouraged to complete items off a 'Camp Challenge Board' and send photos/videos to their classroom teacher(s).

The pinnacle of the event however is still yet to come.  'Camp Celebration Day' has also been planned for when we return onsite -  where students will be encouraged to wear camp outfits and join in some fun activities, including 'minute to win it' challenges, a camp quiz, and a disco.

We can't wait to be back together and well done to everyone for their efforts and their resilience thus far.

Year 3 Incursion

Whilst events such as camps, sleepovers, and excursions have not been possible, it hasn't stopped our students and staff from celebrating where they could.  On the 24th of August, Year 3 students participated in the Botanical Garden Virtual incursion. This involved an online session with educators where students discovered the importance of the environment to the Koolin people and how plants were used for fibre, medicine, tools and food.

Until next fortnight, stay in contact, stay safe and reach out whenever you need.
