Principal's Report

Kerryn Baillie (Principal)

Term 3  - Week 8

It has been another busy fortnight at the Springs as we all continue with remote learning. With the Premier's announcement this week, I hope the re-opening of parks makes things a bit easier on families.  I know I'm keen to get my little one out of the house.

I was so pleased to see targets being set.  It gives hope that when vaccination rates improve we can start getting our lives back to normal and more importantly our kids back in routine and face-to-face learning.

Farewell Mr 'Chips and Gravy'

After 13 years at the Springs it is with a heavy heart that we farewell Mr Rhys 'Chips and Gravy' Davie.  We thank Rhys for his service to the school and for making a difference in the lives of our students and community members.  He will be sorely missed and we wish him every success for the future.

Step into Prep

As promised this newsletter has a new Step into Prep page.

Please make sure you check it out.

Online Resources Available

A reminder that students have access to Matific (www.matific.com) and Sunshine Online (www.sunshineonline.com.au) which can be used to support learning at home.  For Matific, students have individual login details and teachers can be contacted to provide them if necessary.  For Sunshine Online, students can use their student ID eg: jew0001 and the password: reading 1, or alternatively their generic year level ID - eg: Prep- pspsprep, Year 1- pspsyear1, etc with the same password (reading1).

Security Upgrade

Over the past fortnight, our CCTV system has been upgraded - adding more cameras to cover the grounds.  Disappointingly we have had an increase in vandalism but with our cameras, we have been able to supply footage to police who have identified some of the offenders.  If you notice anyone onsite doing the wrong thing after hours please contact the police.  Our local police have been supportive with extra drive-bys and attending quickly.

2021 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

Our school is currently conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school.  This survey gives us valuable feedback.  30% of our families have received the survey which needs to be completed by Friday, September 3rd.  This date has been extended by the Department of Education.

Carpark

Please remember the car park at the front of the school is for staff only.  This is not a school pick-up and drop-off point.  Please ensure you find a safe meeting place to drop off and collect students.

End of Term 3, 2021

Friday 17th September - End of Term 3 - Students on-site dismissed at 2.30pm
