This week, the Senior Learning Space 2 students used collaboration skills on a digital interactive whiteboard called 'Jamboard' to brainstorm writing ideas for a Father's Day Card. 

This included a greeting, message, closing farewell message and card design ideas. They discovered that in Australia, Father’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of September. 

On this day we celebrate the love and dedication of fathers and father figures, and thank them for being our teacher, carer, friend and role model. 

Father is ‘père’ in French, ‘ojciec’ in Polish, ‘vader’ in Dutch, ‘vater’ in German and ‘padre’ in both Italian and Spanish. 

During the 1920s and 1930s it was even suggested that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day should be combined to form a Parent’s Day. Do you think this is a good idea?

A shout out to all the wonderful SFS artists.  If you have created a fabulous piece of art during lockdown and would like to share it with the school community please email a clear, well lit photo of your artwork to Louise (lhyde@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au) by Thursday 9th September. 

These will then be published in Week 10’s newsletter. 

This week’s artist is Joshua J from IH, who has been busy creating some fabulous Lego birds.  What fantastic creations.

Juniors - For your next lesson we will be cutting and pasting so you will need to have a pair of scissors, a glue stick and some coloured paper.  

You can use catalogs and old magazines (like the coles/woolies magazines that are free) if you don't have coloured paper.

During Senior Italian this week as an extra task to their learning, students were given the option to create a memory board poster for their dad or special person in their life for Father’s day.
