August and September -  HEADSTART Apprentices and Trainees

Despite the ongoing restrictions, we have seen 3 students secure employment through the HEADSTART program, which is wonderful news in the current climate:

Arthur Pagoulatos – Year 10, Acacia Campus

Arthur moved to KSC this year as he wanted to join the HEADSTART program, his previous school were not part of the program, therefore Arthur and his family pro-actively researched and discovered that he could follow his chosen pathway to become a Plumber with KSC.

Arthur is our first student from Year 10 to commence in the HEADSTART program. He completed a work place trial with Sam Pickett Plumbing during Term 2. The employer was impressed with Arthur’s commitment, dedication, maturity and organization and offered him a School Based Apprenticeship as a Plumber. Arthur will start his Certificate III in Plumbing with Holmesglen TAFE early next year and work 2 days per week as part of his VCAL Certificate. Congratulations Arthur this is well deserved.

Fame (Ashley) Magnaye – Year 11, Banksia Campus

Ashley has recently moved into the VCAL program at Banksia Campus as she expressed an interest in the HEADSTART program which was supported by her Year Level Coordinator. Ashley has a desire to become an Events Manager when she graduates from school and was open to exploring which pathway would best lead her to her dream job. Ashley attended an online interview with a local restauranteur who was looking to recruit a Business Trainee, and was offered the position. She will support the launch of his new café/restaurant in Oakleigh which will involve front of house, event planning and admin work. Ashley is delighted to have secured this traineeship through the HEADSTART program, and complete the Certificate III in Business. Ashley is looking forward to commencing next month when the new business opens it’s doors. Well done Ashley your future looks bright!

Abigal Mudaliar – Year 12, Banksia campus

Abigal completed a work place trial with Stairmaster in July, along with 2 other students from different schools. Abigal was organized and on time and fitted in well both with the company and the other students on trial. She was then offered a School Based Apprenticeship to become a Carpenter which has been Abigal’s chosen pathway for the last 2 years while she completed her VET Pre-Apprenticeship in Building and Construction. Abigal now works 2 days per week as part of her HEADSTART program with Stairmaster, and will enroll with Chisholm TAFE to commence her Certificate III in Carpentry next term.
