Improvement Team Report

We are pleased to advise the new Subject Proposal Policy and Subject Proposal Template has now been finalised by the CARI-Team. This will now be sent to the Learning Area Leaders for their review and feedback.

The College has decided to remove the subject of ‘Investigate’ from Years 7-9, and instead implement discrete skills-based curriculums for English or English as an Additional Language and Humanities in 2022. The development of these curriculums falls under the responsibility of this Improvement Team. Three leaders have been appointed who will lead their respective development teams to plan for implementation of these subjects in 2022.

  • Martine Jansen (Junior English Development Leader)
  • Nathan Jackson (Junior EAL Development Leader)
  • Jesse Martin who will be replaced by David Pfeiffer in Term 4 (Junior Humanities Development Leader)

All 3 leaders have been working with, and will continue to work with and be mentored by Bec Carter (College Curriculum Leader) to help guide, build capacity and provide necessary direction in line with the College’s vision and Strategic Goals. Bec has developed an extensive ‘Strategic Implementation Guides’ to facilitate the work of each of the Development Teams. Development Teams have been established for each discrete subject area and planning is underway, which includes substantial time release for teams to collaborate and plan.

The CARI-Team have approved a number of text changes for 2022 (all which align with the College ‘Text Change’ Policy). The text changes are all for VCE subjects and many are due to study design changes or texts being updated by Publishers.

For the Semester 2 Reports, an additional Common Assessment Task called ‘Engagement in Remote Learning’ will be added to all subjects, like what occurred in Semester 2 2020 reports. This is a direct result of the extensive period spent in Remote Learning in Semester 2 this year.

The CARI-Team are still in the process of redeveloping the College Exam Policy.

Regards,

The Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Improvement Team: Natalie Fode, John Baston, Bec Carter, Nicole Wilson, Matt Laaksonen and Keenan Synnott.

STUDENT LEARNING FRAMEWORK - 5P’s

Student engagement & wellbeing school improvement team

The student learning framework provides students and parents with a model for creating a successful learning environment. By having the learning processes and expected learning behaviors clearly defined and recognised across the College.

  • Students will be able to identify specific learning behaviors that can improve their learning outcomes. As well as be encouraged to take responsibility for managing their own learning to become self-directed learners.
  • Teachers will use the defined student learning behaviors to drive the learning that will take place in their classes and this will provide opportunity to identify evidence for assessment of students in the Victorian Curriculum capabilities.

Each term we will profile two of our 5P learners celebrating their success and examining how the student learning framework has helped them excel at Keysborough College
