In one of the closest contested Sports Days ever seen at Hackham East, less than 100 points separated first from fourth in deciding the 2020 Champions.
That honour went to the Green Koalas of Karalta-Timana, narrowly edging out second placed Yellow by 11 points to become the most successful team in recent years.
Students will compete in their year levels instead of classes. Every student has the chance to win points for their team through placing 1st – 4th in each event or for demonstrating school values throughout the day.
At this stage, plans are in place for families to attend on Friday 17/9, with further details being provided closer to the day.
A&A’s Marvellous Eats will be open to visitors throughout the day. Please contact Namoi on our school Facebook page should you be able to donate time to assist in the canteen on the day.
This term our middle and upper primary students have been learning about Speedminton and Badminton. We invested the money we won through a Sporting Schools Grant into providing specialist coaching from Badminton SA over 8 weeks for our middle and upper primary students.
To date, students have learnt how to serve and rally using the forehand grip, thumb grip and to play a defensive shot using the ‘Punch Clear’.
Our Junior Primary Students have continued to learn fundamental movement skills in preparation for Sports Day. To date these have included long jump, and dress up relay with sprints, high jump and javelin being practised over the coming weeks.
