Principal Report

A word from Tami-Jo.....

After such a smooth transition back on site, it was unfortunate that we had to return to remote learning last week, but I have been so pleased at how well our community adapts to these changing situations. Fantastic work everyone! I have loved being able to jump into some of the classroom sessions and read stories with Brianna.

We really do appreciate how flexible and adaptable you are in these times. Please stay the course, whilst remote learning can be challenging, we are seeing progress from students who are fully engaging. Thank you.

Traffic

I sent out a COMPASS message earlier in the term reminding everyone to be safe when dropping off and picking up students. I know that it can be convenient to drop your children off without parking but please use the gates as a drop off zone- park at the kerb and let the children out on the footpath. Those extra minutes can make all the difference in keeping your own and other children safe.

It is also important to be respectful of those who live in the streets around our school and park correctly. Do not park across drive ways or park inappropriately as it upsets others in our school community.

Principal’s Day

Last Friday we celebrated Victorian Principal’s Day. I want to acknowledge the work of Brianna Morelli who as the foundation Assistant Principal has been integral in developing the school into the wonderful, caring educational facility that it is. She has also been leading the school whilst the search for the substantive principal is occurring. Thank you also to Malinda Vaughan and Renata Rice who manage the staff and students in their Assistant Principal roles and work tirelessly to ensure your children are cared for and engaged in rigorous learning programs.

Enrolments

We are currently planning for 2022. In order to make sure that we have planned appropriately with staffing, classrooms and resources, we need to ensure that we know all students that will be starting with us next year. If you have a child to enrol in Prep please contact the office as soon as possible to enrol your child. If you know of anyone outside our current school community please remind them as well. We have started communicating with families already to make sure that the students and families are prepared when it is time to begin in 2022.

Year 7

We are working hard to build our Year 7-9 program. It is so exciting. We look forward to sharing this information with you in detail at the Information Night coming up.

Mental Health for Children

Some families are concerned about the mental health of their children during this time. Here is a link to some mental health support for families if needed. If you are requiring any support please contact our office and we’ll speak to you about how we can support you and your children.

Small Joys

Just a reminder that it is a week of small joys. We have been talking to the children about how to find the ‘small joys around them. My small joy has been connecting with your children. They have made me so welcome and I love the reception I get when I pop into their classroom meetings or I am reading them a story. It warms my heart and brings me joy.

Take care everyone and we look forward to seeing you onsite soon.
