Infection Control/ Education

Infection control

Thank you all for the continued compliance with wearing mask and proper hand wash. Your compliance has helped in keeping us all safe during these unprecedented times.

New changes

  • There is now a guide on the plan for residents returning from Hospital/ exposure sites. The guide will help staff in making the decision with whether the resident needs to isolate or not and if they do, what areas needs to be covered i.e hydration, activities etc.
  • There are now separate skips for linen and clothing if there is 1 or 2 residents in isolation.

These skips are to be kept in the resident room and emptied either at the end of the shift, when full or if the items in them are soiled. The yellow skip remain kept in infection control room and the gouge linen skip is kept in the pan room.

  • There are new cleaning instructions for covid19 isolation touch points, instead of using the disinfectant solution, hospital grade 2 in 1 wipes can now be used.

Just a reminder that our annual hand wash is now due and if you haven’t had yours completed to please see Vik so you can get ticked off.

Education

  • Thank you to all the staff who put their hand up to do the medication competency training.
  • Dementia training online is still available for all staff to complete if you haven’t already, please take time to register yourself and complete the training. Details on how to register were send to your personal emails on 27 July 2021.

Student placement

I would like to extend my gratitude to all your support, patience and guidance you have been giving to the students throughout the year. All students have had nothing but positive feedback about all staff and their learning experience here. Well done all!
