Year Six Graduation Mass

On Monday 9th of December, the Galilee school community gathered for the Year 6 Graduation Mass at OLMC. Fr Hugh led us in praying for our Year 6 students who are close to completing their journey at Galilee.  He advised them to use their gifts and talents as well as seek to do what is right and good. The Mass was a wonderful celebration of all that these students have accomplished. We witnessed a beautiful candle ceremony where the Year 6 students passed on their leadership responsibilities to the Year 5 students. We thank Charlotte Biggs and Julie Ferguson for preparing such a moving celebration. Year 6, we couldn't be more proud of you. We wish you all the best as you graduate to Secondary School next year. We look forward to continuing the celebrations tonight, celebrating your Graduation Dinner.

End of Year/Christmas Mass

On Friday 13th December, the whole school celebrated the End of Year Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul. At the Mass we reflected on the journeys we have made this year, both personally and as a community. We gave thanks to God for making the journey with us. At the Mass a number of awards were presented to students and we were given an opportunity to say farewell to staff and families who are leaving Galilee. We extend a warm appreciation to families and friends who attended the Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul's with us.

Food and Toiletries and Toy Drive

A very big thank you to all the Galilee students, staff and families for your donations of non perishable food and toiletries to both the StSPP kitchen and the Father Bob Foundation.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence 2020 Toy Appeal was a resounding success! Their car needed to come to the school twice because they couldn't fit the amount of donated toys!

These were wonderful ways to be the 'Hands and Feet' of Jesus this Christmas to those most needy in our community. Your generous support is greatly appreciated!

OLMC need your help for the Christmas nativity play

Christmas Eve Family Mass will be at 6.00pm.

We are inviting children who would like to take part in the retelling of the Nativity Gospel at the Christmas Eve Family Mass at 6.00pm at Mount Carmel Church. We are looking for a Commentator to welcome everyone at the start of Mass, 3 readers and 1 angel to read parts of the Gospel story. All children are invited to come dressed as shepherds or angels. A rehearsal will take place at OLMC Church on Sunday 22 December 2019 between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. If you would like to take part please contact the Parish Office 9681 9600 and leave your name and contact details with either Anne or Michael.

Inspiration

Isaiah 19:20

And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

As humans we look for many 'things/people/situations' to 'save' us. The concept of being a saviour or having a saviour is fully understood in Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world. Jesus was born to save us from our mistakes and put us in right relationship with God and one another. Only Jesus can give us eternal life. Where in your life do you need saving? As a family,  you might like to ask Jesus to come into your hearts this Christmas and watch the fruits of Jesus, the saviour of the world, grow in your lives.

Thank you and be blessed this Christmas

Finally, the staff at Galilee would like to say a massive Thank You for making 2019 such a wonderful year! We sincerely appreciate all you have done this year and trust you and your family will be so blessed this Advent. We pray that you receive an overflow of the love of God this Christmas so you can be blessed and be a ‘Gift’ to others. We wish you all a very safe and Happy Christmas holiday, filled with joy, peace and love shared with your loved ones. We invite you to attend the parish masses at Sts. Peter and Paul, OLMC and St. Joseph’s as you welcome Jesus our Saviour and celebrate His birth. May your New Year be filled with happiness and all things special and we look forward to an even better 2020!
