School Council Update
Community Engagement Event
School Council would like to extend a huge thank you to those parents who were able to attend our recent Community Engagement Event, held in the MPR on April 29.
It was a fantastic evening with a great deal of discussion and enthusiasm, and some exciting ideas about community engagement and fundraising events for 2021.
In particular, there was a lot of focus on whether and how we might be able to stage a school fair this year, given the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions.
We know that the fair is a major highlight each year for our school community, the broader Clifton Hill community and for our children in particular. It also generates the most fundraising dollars for the school each year of any event - funds which have made possible a number of the superb facilities we have here at CHPS.
This is an ongoing discussion but it’s clear that we will need many more parents to get involved for the fair to go ahead this year.
As the saying goes, many hands make light work, so please consider how you might be involved in this wonderful event.
Next steps:
Following the next School Council meeting on May 19, we will follow up with those parents who registered for the engagement event, or who have otherwise expressed interest - even if you weren't able to attend on the night.
We'll also provide an update on community engagement and fundraising plans in the next newsletter, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, please email School Council at chps_schoolcouncil@cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au if you have ideas to share, thoughts specifically on the fair, or are interested in getting involved in community engagement and/or fundraising events, whether in a small or a big way!
