Principal's Message

Students On Time

Many thanks to all the parents who are getting their students here in the mornings in enough time to go to the bathroom and meet with their friends. It really helps the teachers when everyone is on time as they can start the instruction section of their lesson. It is difficult if teachers  need to stop and repeat part of the instruction session for late comers. Thanks everyone for your efforts.

Term 2 Holidays

It is a little early to be talking about next term holidays but in case some parents are planning trips i thought it might be helpful. Students  finish Term 2 at 2.30pm on Friday 25th June and return on Tuesday 13th July at 9am.

Monday 12th July has been approved by school council as a professional development day for our staff. On this day we will be working on further developing the Numeracy skills of our team.

School Concert

Hopefully things continue to improve re COVID-19 restrictions. If all goes to plan the Rollins School Concert will be on Thursday September 2nd 2021. I know the planning has already begun by our formal committee and as information becomes available we will inform parents.

Parking

We have been lobbying for security fencing around the school and a parking bay for a  long time but have had very limited success.

Recently I have been able to secure an education department representative  to come down from Melbourne to further investigate the issue.

We have again submitted quotes and documentation and will keep our fingers crossed for a positive outcome in the near future.

Riding to School

Please reinforce with your child the importance of wearing a correctly fitted helmet to and from school. If a child is witnessed not wearing a helmet they will not be permitted to ride to school. This sounds harsh, but we want to ensure every child is safe and well protected in case there is an accident.

District Cross Country

Last Friday, thirty-nine students competed in the Aberdeen District Cross Country event at the Fyansford Common. The standard of the competition was very good and three students qualified for the Division event being held later this month. Those who qualified were Evie W (5th in the 9/10 Girls), Jake P (1st in the 11 Boys) and Avah F (2nd in the 12/13 Girls). Aidan V and Sienna R ran well and narrowly missed out on progressing to the next level.

All the students were great representatives of the school. Their behavior was excellent and  and they put in maximum effort.

Two students, Kade W and Levynnah W, were unable to compete because they were injured. Based on their performances at the Rollins event, we will be requesting an invitation for them to participate in the Division event.

Congratulations to all students who represented our school.  Well done.

Fundraising Committee

I would like to thank those parents who kindly gave up their time last Tuesday to meet with the School Council President and myself to discuss ways we might be able to raise funds to further support our students educational and social needs. It was so great to chat. I was extremely grateful for all their input. Hopefully this is a committee that can meet regularly. Anyone who has a few spare minutes and would like to join this group please feel free to contact the school for more information
