2022 Prep and Year 7 Enrolment
Dear Parents/Guardians
We are excited to inform you that we are quickly filling up our Prep and Year 7 classes for 2022.
A friendly reminder to those with children who will be commencing Prep and/or Year 7 in 2022 to please contact our Enrolments Coordinator, Kelsey Richards, for the relevant Enrolment Application Forms.
For any enquiries, please contact the College office or contact Kelsey at kelsey.richards@hcc.vic.edu.au.
Parent Working Bee
Our second working bee for the year is being held on Saturday 8 May from 8:30am – 11:00am.
This working bee is primarily for families with surnames beginning L-Z, however you are welcome to attend if you are a family with a surname from A-K. There is one working bee scheduled per term and families are encouraged to attend two for the year. You will receive a credit of $75 towards your school fees for each of the two working bees you attend, a total of $150 credit if you attend two over the year.
On arrival, please park at the western end of the car park (near the Telstra building) and meet Peter Cliffe just outside the staff room to sign in and be assigned a job from the list published there.
We do request that people bring their own equipment if possible. Of particular use are whippersnippers, wheelbarrows, rakes, garden forks (great for moving mulch), spades and household cleaning items. It is highly likely that you will get dirty, so please wear old clothing.
We break the work up with a short morning tea so that there is time to chat and mingle with the other parents. If you are able to, please bring a plate of morning tea to share and leave it on the staffroom table when you arrive.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Fundraising: Help Anerien Fight Cancer
Anerien Becker, a past parent of the College (mother of Ulrich, Benjamin, twins Nicholas and Gustav and married to Igmon), has been bravely battling metastatic cancer for the past 4 years and is seeking additional help to fund the treatment that she requires.
The Aspendale Gardens Primary School community where her boys now attend, along with Kingston City Church, have set up a raffle and an online auction to help with this fundraising and we would also like to ask our HCC community to assist where you are able to. There are some great prizes on offer and all proceeds will go directly to Anerien and her family to support her treatment. Equally important will be our prayers for her.
Raffle tickets are being sold in the College office until Friday 7 May. Tickets are $2 each or $20 for a book of 10 tickets. Payment by cash only. Thank you.
Beanies & Scarves
With the colder weather upon us, it is worth a reminder regarding the wearing of beanies and scarves to school. We now have the HCC Beanie as part of the uniform.
HCC Beanies are available for sale, they cost $12 and can be purchased via QKR or via EFT in the College office.
They are one size fits all, made from 100% acrylic and are machine washable.
Scarves, whilst are not an official part of the uniform, can be worn but must be plain coloured in any of the following colours: navy blue, maroon, white or black.
Please note that beanies and scarves are not to be worn in the classroom.
The uniform promotes pride in the College and an increase in student self-esteem as well as a sense of belonging. Should you need further information or clarification on the wearing of scarves or beanies, please contact the College office at office@hcc.vic.edu.au. Thank you.
Financial Assistance:Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)
Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities. It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking the link between a student’s background and their outcomes.
CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS
FUND (CSEF)
School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum.
CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
The annual CSEF amount per student is:
- $125 for primary school students
- $225 for secondary school students
HOW TO APPLY
New applicants should contact the College office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from the website below.
If you applied for CSEF last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances. You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:
- new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools this year.
- changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.
