Food glorious food

Food studies practical classes and remote learning

Learning and developing food preparation skills plays a major part in our Food Studies curriculum.

However, we understand that in a remote learning environment not all students have the skills or the resources to prepare the food we suggest for our classes. Where possible we would like students to prepare one meal per week but understand that this is not always possible. Students who are unable to safely prepare food at home will not be disadvantaged in their assessment for the subject.

We would like to reinforce that while classroom teachers might suggest a recipe for students to prepare at home, it is a suggestion only. We do not want/expect families to purchase extra food items. Students have been/will be informed that the recipes given out each week are a suggestion only.

If the recipe provided by the classroom teacher doesn’t work with the family food plan, students can either prepare what is planned by the family or research an alternative recipe to one suggested by the classroom teacher that they would prepare.

It is important to remember the recipes provided by the teacher are suggestions only, and that students should only prepare meals if their parents are satisfied that they are being safely supervised.

If parents have questions regarding this, they should contact their child's Food Studies teacher.
