Principal's Report

Cultural Diversity Week

Our community has diverse cultures, strengths, interests and abilities. This week we celebrated this during Cultural Diversity Week. Our Community Engagement Team, led by Yvette Medina, organised a magnificent week of activities including a Soccer House Cup, World Music and a Samoan Sasa Challenge. The undoubted highlight was the Cultural Fashion Parade and Performances on Friday lunchtime. Almost the entire school gathered to watch in our courtyard. They enthusiastically supported the parade and performances from staff and students representing the many cultures that make up Staughton.

It was a great example of the strength of our connection across the whole Staughton Family. I am looking forward to us continuing that theme of connection at this weeks Parent Teacher Student Conferences. It is important to remember that Wednesday is a normal school day before the conferences begin at 4pm. Bookings are still open via XUNO.

Child safe

In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Reponses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

Principal

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
