SOME AMAZING POETRY FROM OUR YEAR 6 STUDENTS
A New World
Aquamarine water surrounds me
making me feel minuscule.
Enclosed and remote.
Glinting light shining through the surface,
trying to blind me like the sun in my eyes.
Millions of sharp knives
hang from the top of the underwater world.
Renewed museums of an ancient wonderland.
Swimming in a circular, spectacular scene.
This landscape is to die for.

Escape
Curved moss
collides with burnt orange and maple leaves.
The tree’s
legs poke out and I trip.
I notice a
figure in the distance.
I walk closer.
And closer.
And closer.
And closer.
And closer.
Until I jolt
up, unaware of the escape I was just in.

Jam Donut
Cinnamon glittering in the night sky
A shining raspberry, red dollop of jam
Gracefully gliding down my cheek
A soft cloud from heaven touches my tongue
The hot jam sizzling in my mouth
Sugar grinding on my teeth
The sweet golden dough smell wafts through the air
Leaving me to only to want more
A cinnamon sugar moustache forming on my face
The sweetness that comes upon my mouth
Cinnamon adding on a little spice and tang
As the taste danced on my tongue
My mouth latching on to the sweet cloud
The crunch of the crispy dough
Steaming air blowing onto my face like a fan

Snape’s Doe
The midnight moonlight,
Showers the empty clearing,
Bathing it in a sparkling,
Shimmering glow.
Even after death,
Lily had explained the impossible,
And how rare and beautiful,
it is to even exist.
To repay her for all she did for him,
Snape helped poor Potter in his time of need,
To bring him what he desperately requires.
He reached for his wand,
And outstretched his hand,
And whispered these words,
“Expecto… patronum!”

Red Riding Hood Ballad
Bearing scrumptious snacks are packed
Dressed in her cloak so red
On a trip to see her grandma
Who is sick in bed
She heads into the inky woods
Down the path she walks
A sneaky sly wolf sees her there
Watching her like a hawk
The wolf leaps into Granny’s bed
Gobbles Granny up whole
Hides under the feathery quilt
As red riding comes a stroll
He darts from under the blankets
Like a cunning spy
He opens his mouth to eat her too
But she lets out a piercing cry
A hunter comes and finds her there
Shaking like a leaf
Cuts the wolf with a mighty swing
Finds Gran in disbelief

The Mischievous Forest - Free Verse
A gust of wind shudders across me,
It’s not too long before it’s time to flee
As I wander to the exit of the forest,
I hear something
It’s the sound of the phone ringing
The caller was making this forest a lot more
Foreboding
I hear something approaching
The aroma was rather mischievous,
Swish
I may be hallucinating but that bush just moved
Swish, swish, swish
I bolt,
Faster than ever before
I was like a kettle that didn’t even know
It was on and suddenly burst!
The world’s fastest tornado couldn’t possibly catch up to me
The clouds grumbled,
The thunder roared
Footsteps follow me,
I feel everything but glee
I trip onto my knees
Nooo!
I was petrified,
My whole body filled with aghast
I turned around to see my evil frenemy,
Oh Stacy, of course it is you
She’s been pranking me endlessly,
It hasn’t been a blast
From whoopie cushions, to prank calls,
To being a fake ghost
Oh boy, she is a piece of toast.
