Poetry in Action

On Wednesday 28th of April students were entertained and educated by the dynamic trio that make up the travelling theatre experience, Poetry in Action. All 9,10 and 11 Drama students and students from 9 and 10 English classes attended this performance that looks at the big ideas in poetry. 

The performers unpack these big ideas, referencing examples of poetry ranging from classics such as Shakespeare and Browning as well as modern artists such as Justin Bieber and Eminem.

• After the performance, students got to ask the performers questions. The performers, and the staff who attended the performance, were impressed by the interesting and valuable questions that were asked. The students were enthralled as they laughed along to the narrative that unfolded around the power of words and in particular, poetry.
• This was a fantastic experience for students at Kempsey High, as most students had never attended a live performance before.
