From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Anzac Day

This year our Year 6 students led our school community in an Anzac Day “virtual” liturgy that gave time for us to remember the lives of the men and women who have given their lives to protecting Australia and New Zealand’s way of life.  Click here to view

Lest we forget

School Cross Country

Last Friday’s House Cross Country Running event was a great day of fun and excitement for our school community.  This was a new event for St Simon’s School and it was wonderful to see all students coming together participating and supporting one another throughout the running course.  One of the positive features of the day were the multiple viewing areas for parents to cheer and support their children on the day.

Thank you to all the school staff who worked seamlessly together to ensure the day ran smoothly.  Thank you to Bianca Gilling and Karl Camerino for the high level of planning and organisation put into the event.  We are very blessed at St Simon’s to have such highly committed, skilled and enthusiastic staff who work together to ensure students at St Simon’s have opportunities to grow, achieve and thrive in their education and development.

Celebrating 200 years of Catholic Education

This year as a nation, Australia is celebrating 200 years of Catholic Education.

A national theme, “Faith in the future” has been developed for the 200 years celebrations. The theme reflects the core purpose of Catholic education to form students in their faith, and to provide an education that enables our graduates to make a meaningful contribution to the world. The theme reflects our commitment to build on the great work of those who have come before us, and to provide a Catholic education for future generations of students in a world that is rapidly changing and poses new challenges for Catholic school communities. Yet, we have faith that we can face these challenges and continue to build on, and strengthen our mission of Catholic education.

This week each child will be receiving a prayer card that embraces and reminds us of the gift of catholic education in our country.  I encourage you to place these cards in a common space in your home and use it as part of your family prayer time.
