Outcomes of the Resilience Project

A few weeks back, a student from each class took part in a focus group session that reflected on the outcomes of The Resilience Project in each year level. The data was recorded using a thinking tool called a P-M-I (Plus, Minus, Interesting). At the beginning of the session, two multi-aged groups had an open discussion about their general thoughts on The Resilience Project program to help stimulate thoughts and feelings. Here are some examples of the more positive outcomes:

“Good for your mind”, Maicey- Foundation

“21 days of awesome helps me appreciate things”,Lenny J-Yr2

“More comfortable talking”, Beth- Yr 4

“Makes you think about all the things you are grateful for and that you have”, Nick- Yr 6

Staff also reflected on the student PMI’s and took part in a session where they completed one in teams to compare our general thoughts and feelings around the program. As we are also currently beginning to implement the Department of Education’s program ‘Respectful Relationships’, we are evaluating both programs and considering what is the most functional and effective way to move forward with both programs. Regardless of what RPS decides to deliver to our student cohort, there is a commitment by our staff and DET to focus on the wellbeing of our students and to educate them in respectful behaviours and how we can develop healthy habits of the mind. As you can see, overall, students have mostly received something positive out of the program and are learning about empathy, gratitude, kindness and mindfulness together, which is promoting more positive behaviours in our student community.
