Year 10 & 11 Italian Film Excursion
Last Thursday, 13 September, a great bunch of the Year 10 & 11 Italian Students went to the Italian Film Festival. This took place at the Palace Cinemas, in Balwyn. We all watched the movie “Like A Cat On A Highway.” It followed two different pairs of characters. One pair being a very upperclass Father and Daughter, and the other pair being a more rebellious Mother and Son. The movie’s story is basically about how the Son & Daughter from each family fall in love and their parents don’t know what to do about it. This movie was very enjoyable and entertaining. It is safe to say that we all enjoyed it and I personally would love to watch it again. The movie definitely helped with our Italian Vocabulary and the Year 10’s even got some tips from the Year 11’s on what to expect for VCE Italian. We then ate a beautiful lunch at the Italian restaurant ‘Columbo’s’ in Balwyn. Overall, the excursion was great and we all had a great day!

On Thursday, 13 September, students from Year 10 and 11 Italian travelled to watch a movie featuring in the 2018 Italian Film Festival. The film was called ‘Like a Cat on a Highway’ which translates to ‘Come un gatto in tangenziale’ in Italian. The movie explored different social classes in Italy and the interaction between them. We all loved the movie and had a really fun time! After the movie, we went out for lunch and ate pizza and pasta which fitted the Italian theme for the day. We then made our way back to school. Overall, the excursion was interesting and we all had a wonderful time. We are all thankful to Miss Lattanzio for organising the day.

We made our way to Palace Balwyn Cinemas to see “Like a Cat on a Highway”, which has been featured in the Italian Film Festival this year. My initial expectations were not high, but I ended up enjoying the movie and appreciated that it touched on the fact that we shouldn’t judge others because they are different. It was a nice light-hearted movie which saw two very different people come together to form a great bond. A common genre, but this time in Italian, with subtitles of course!

The film “Like a Cat on a Highway” was a great film and kept me intrigued for the duration of it. Everyone had a great time and hopefully this will be an ongoing annual event for Italian students.
