College Production Triumph

“Grease is the Word” played to sell-out audiences from September 12 – 14th. The musical was a clever adaptation of “Grease” created by Ms Kelly Spiteri (Director) in which the storyline focused on the behind the scenes relationships of students involved in a high school production.

As always, the production was a team effort with Ms Fiona Cowan taking on Assistant Director responsibilities and Amy Ebert choreographing the many varied dance numbers – including the staff dance. Mrs Wendy Howes and Mr Nick Dean contributed a lot of hours through taking care of the music side of things as well as providing expert voice coaching for our singers.   Mr Phil Harvey rocked it out with the band and assisted Mr Simon Cross in creating the set.

In my opinion, other than the outstanding performances of the cast, the “Grease Machine” stole the show.  Mr Tom Lansdaal created the brilliant car that you may have noticed taking pride of place in our foyer.  The craftsmanship that went into building this vehicle, as well as the technology used to create the light and sound effects, were simply amazing!

I am sure that “Grease is the Word” will be remembered for many years to come.  It was clear that we have some real stars at Doncaster Secondary College who will no doubt go on to be actors, singers or even comedians in the future.

Well done to everyone who contributed behind the scenes to ensure that this show was such a great success and thank you to our school community for your enthusiastic attendance.
