Do You Know This Simple Technique to Restore Calm?

This week's Wellbeing Moment is a simple but powerful breathing exercise to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and slow everything down.

Whether you have an upset child, are feeling overwhelmed or have just come off a difficult phone call and need a quick reset, this breathing technique is for everyone to calm the central nervous system and bring you back to neutral.

Box Breathing

With your feet on the floor and your palms either resting on your knees or your belly, take a deep breath and inhale, allowing the belly to rise and fall. After a few belly breaths, slow the pace.

Take a deep breath and inhale for 4 counts, hold the breath for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts and hold the exhale for 4 counts. Repeat for a minimum of 5 rounds and continue until you feel yourself relax.

Controlling your breathing is an incredibly powerful tool and is a quick and easy strategy that works.

International Womens Day -

Sunday, 8 March

International Womens Day is on Sunday, 8 March and we wish to acknowledge the many female teachers and staff members in our DSC community.

As teachers, parents and caregivers, we can use International Women's Day as an important opportunity to both educate and inspire children, and collectively contribute to creating a gender equal world.
