Year 10 Media - Photography Series

Please click through the above gallery to explore some of the incredible images by our talented students.

Ms Patterson's Year 10 Media students have created some incredible photographs that explore realistic and non-realistic representation in the media. They brainstormed aspects about their own identity and how they could represent these aspects in a series of photographs.

Playful Puppet Projects

Over the last three weeks Mr Tomada's Year 10 Surface Design students have been making finger puppets. Each student created two different characters from the Disney franchise.

Students came up with lots of unique designs including Merida, Eeyore, Baby Yoda, Cruella De Ville and Mushu.

Making these puppets taught students how to use a pattern or template and improve their sewing/problem solving skills , while re-connecting with their inner-child.

The puppets will be donated to a local kindergarten for the children to play with and to assist with storytelling.

This project taught students many new techniques they can use in the future, and a fun experience was had by all.

The Art of Marbling

Chelsea M (10I) Reports:

In Year 10 art we have been experimenting with a technique known as marbling.

First we dropped ink into a tray of water and swirled it around to create intricate patterns resembling marble.

We then experimented with colour and explored how different types of paper would react such as photo paper, watercolour paper and printer paper.

Once our marbled pieces had dried, we drew or painted onto them with pencils, fine-liners or watercolours.

Some students drew people or cartoons while others wrote words and quotes.

The final stage was to annotate our works in our folios. We had to make annotations about the methods and our thoughts on the final piece.

Within the art room, the atmosphere is bright and exciting with everyone participating in experiments and working together, giving ideas and inspiration for each others' pieces.

If you are interested in learning more about this technique then please see Mr Cross in Art Club (Thursday lunchtimes in B3).

Mrs Miller's Year 9 ceramics class has been working hard on their Mexican pots. Well done to students on their beautiful designs! We look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
