Principal's Report
Term 3 has kicked off in a great way with many positives.
Tuesday night we held our Year 8 into Year 9 and Year 10 into Year 11 information evening for parents and students. I am very pleased with the wonderful turn out we had on the night, with those present able to explore the large range of subject choices open to our students. If you were unable to attend or have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school. I also recommend you visit our Facebook page where you can view a number of videos promoting our subject choices.
Earlier on Tuesday as a school we celebrated NAIDOC day. This was a great day for acknowledging the importance of Aboriginal culture to our school and Australia as a whole. Students had the opportunity to play Traditional Indigenous Games, sample traditional meats in the perhaps less traditional forms of emu & kangaroo sausages and be entertained by highly acclaimed Aboriginal comic, Sean Choolburra. I was particularly proud of the fabulous art works produced by our students to celebrate NAIDOC day.
Next week the Lachlan Valley Learning Community (Cowra & Canowindra High schools, Cowra, Mulyan, Canowindra, Woodstock, Holmwood, Koorawatha & Wyangala Public schools and Holman Place Special School) will celebrate Education Week with a performance spectacular on Wednesday 2 August at the Cowra Civic Centre. Tickets can be purchased from any of the schools involved for $5. I recommend this opportunity to enjoy the outstanding talent of over 60 Students who will sing, play and dance away the evening. We will also celebrate our visual artists with an Art display at Canowindra Public School.
Year 12 students today received an information sheet regarding a Parent Teacher night and UAC (Universities Admissions Centre) information session to be held on Monday 14 August in the school hall. The UAC session will commence at 7.00 pm and will outline the UAC application process and provide information regarding scholarships, school recommendation schemes, Open Days and alternate pathways. This session will be followed by Parent, Teacher interviews for Year 12. The information sheet will provide instructions on how to utilise our online booking system for the interviews. If you experience any difficulty with the booking process please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Have a great fortnight.
