Athletics

As defending champions for the last 4 yrs., we were the target. With no real carnival to enable us to select out best team combined with 22 students not turning up on the day made life very difficult for our participants. The students who competed did really well to still finish 2nd overall. Our stars were Jess Rastrick 5 wins, Trinity Skenderis 4 wins, Elijah Galu 3 wins (first time competing), Beatrice Dawo 3 wins, and single wins by Phoebe Green, Ashlee Cochrane, Royce Nguyen, Alunga Finau, Riccardo Samau, Grace Valele, Eva Kaku, Deo Nuon, Rose Teah, Lontina Kashindi and the girls 14yrs, 16yrs and 17yrs relays.

Final scores Gisborne 872, Melton 801, Sunbury Downs 779, Sunbury 761, Staughton727, Kurunjang 612, Bacchus Marsh 452, Alice Miller 255.

Netball

1.  Senior Girls- School Sport Victoria State finals.

In our pool - def. Frankston 30-10, def. Melbourne Girls Grammar 24-17, lost to Rowville 21-25.

Lost the semi-final to Hallam 17-23 to finish 3rd in the State.

Rowville won the final - def. Hallam 22-20.

In both our loses were led by 4 goals in the middle part of the game but were subjected to a 7-8min flat patch in both games where the opposition took advantage of a number of "questionable" calls. Our girls did a wonderful job to stay focussed and you can see how close we were to becoming State Champions.

2.  Netball Victoria Schoolgirls Championships

Senior girls – defeated Seda, Warrnambool High, Trinity College Colac, Ballarat Clarendon College 2nd team, Drouin High, but lost the final to Ballarat Clarendon College 1st team by 1 goal. We gave them a 4-goal start but just failed to catch them in this very short version of netball.

Basketball

Intermediate Girls – def. Bacchus Marsh 38-5, def. Kurunjang 24/22 but lost to Sunbury 16/30 (it was the closest that anyone got to Sunbury).

Intermediate Boys – def. Bacchus Marsh 49/26, def. Gisborne 36/31 but lost to Staughton 21/24 – a game we had control of for ages (Staughton won the day)

Yr 8 Girls – def. Staughton 26-18 but lost to Sunbury 10/11 – we had 75% of the play but could not convert

Yr 8 boys – lost to Sunbury 23/30 and lost to Bacchus Marsh 15/31 – tried hard but opposition too good.

Year 7 Girls – won one game but lost the other.

Year 7 Boys - drew 1 game but lost 2 other games.

  Lawn Bowls

Congratulations to Alisha George Yr 10, Emilee Davies and David George, Yr 7 who placed 3rd in the State last Friday in a competition run by Bowls Vic for the top performers in the various school competitions in Victoria. We defeated St. Kevins A and B teams, lost to Camberwell Grammar. We made the semi-final but lost to Mazenod College by one shot. We finished 3rd defeating Camberwell Grammar in the 3rd/4th playoff.

Rugby

Girls Rugby 7’s State Final

  •  lost to Fountain Gate College 7-5 (a simple converted try was the difference).
  • defeated St. Francis Xavier College 32-0.

By losing our first game, meant we played off for 3rd/4th place

 - we defeated The Grange 10-0 to finish 3rd (Fountain Gate won the final easily so we were very close). The girls were very unlucky and have performed really well. They have given us enough insight to realize that this group could be very successful in the coming years and match the success that our senior girls have achieved.
