Year 11 Reflection Day

Monday saw all of our Year 11 students spend the day at Oxford Falls. This time for reflection was presented to the young men as an opportunity away from their lessons to consider their role as student leaders before the end of the year. The day commenced with the idea of “retreat”, as seen particularly in the time Jesus spent in the wilderness. This provided the perfect time for him to consider his life and where he believed he was best served. It was following his time in the wilderness that Jesus began his time in public ministry. The main focus of the day was “Leadership”, with scripture providing the basis to commence the search for the best understanding of leadership. When Jesus washed his disciples feet, he provided the idea of servant leadership. Leadership, the idea that you are there to listen and serve, rather than distance yourself to be served. By taking on the role of the lowest of the lowly servants, Jesus set the example for disciples that he wished for them to follow.

Once the understanding of servant leadership was covered, the students led the rest of the small group discussions and large group feedback sessions. This gave the group time as a whole to consider what their time as Year 12 would look like, along with the legacy they wish to leave. Many useful and beneficial initiatives were discussed and recorded that can now form the basis of the Class of 2021 student leadership.

Visits to Willowood and Matthew Talbot currently on hold. Pancake Tuesdays cancelled.

Visits to the Matthew Talbot Hostel and the Willowood Aged care facility are both on hold on an indefinite basis. This decision was agreed with both organisations in an attempt to limit the spread of illness and viruses at this time.

Although Pancake Tuesdays have been cancelled for the rest of Term 1 please remember that we are still collecting for Caritas and donations are still being taken from students.
