Principal's Report

Covid-19

This is a hot topic in our community at the moment. I will continue to keep families updated through Compass communication on how we are managing the advice from the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Please contact your teacher if you are choosing to keep your child home as a precautionary measure as they will be able to provide you with learning support for your child.

I will keep providing updates to families, including over the school holidays, so please make sure your Compass email is up to date.

Curriculum Day

A reminder to families that students are due back to school on Wednesday, April 15th. Tuesday is a curriculum day where staff will be looking at the Respectful Relationships program.

Easter Raffle

We will still be drawing the Easter Raffle next Wedneday afternoon as planned. Jackson Taylor MP will be donating a prize and be with us as we draw the raffle. As are not holding assemblies, we will draw the raffle in the office and notify families as soon as possible of the winners.

Community Care

I have written about this a lot of late with my daily updates, however, I want to mention it again. One of the best parts of Marlborough Primary School is our community. This is something that I know will enable members of our community to support one another at this time, and I encourage all of our families to be checking in on neighbours and friends to make sure they are doing okay. While there is a lot of focus on physical health at the moment, the strain on the mental health of everyone (particularly the mental load being carried by everyone) will be taking its toll.

For those who have seen the scenes in Italy of people on their balconies singing together, playing music, organizing community exercise from the confinement of their apartments, this is such an inspirational approach to their situation at the moment. The term 'social isolation' is being used to describe those who are confining themselves at home - I prefer to think of it as 'physical isolation', remaining connected with each other through modern technology, or even a good chat over the back fence or across the road is so important to keeping positive mental health at the moment and I encourage families to think of ways to stay socially connected to each other, remaining connected with friend and family will be an important tool for everyone to use.
