Work Zone

Students in Hands on Learning have been busy working on a range of projects. Brock explains:

In Hands on Learning the semester, we have done a whole bunch of tasks involving wood, Metal, and painting.

Using wood we have made a toy robot for children, a pull along toy for children and a wooden object with a Christmas theme design. We have made representative faces from what the students could find. This was using left over materials from the shipping container and the Hands on Learning room.

We have been working with metal by pulling out the metal poles and seat frames from the tram. We have also pulled out the wiring and light covers. The students have been cleaning and painting the tram to the student’s own design choices. We are getting the tram ready for the school to use next year and for many years to come.

I have enjoyed being part of the Hands on Learning team this year. I would like to continue with the Hands on Learning program next year in Year 8. I would recommend the program to people who like to build and use their hands to construct things.
