High Adventure

Year 4 students had a blast camping at the Ace High Ranch. Natasha and Olivia review their time at camp:

On the 1st of November the Year 4s went to Ace High Ranch Camp. The bus trip took over an hour and when we got there everyone was so enthusiastic and energised.

The camp was huge! There were so many animals and buildings. We unloaded the bus with all our luggage and then we were put into our cabins. After we went into our cabins and unpacked we all went to the meeting room to find out our first activity. The activities were the Leap of Faith, Giant Swing, Flying Fox, Archery, Camp Scramble, Initiative coarse and Rock Climbing.

In the leap of faith you have to climb up the pegs that are on a wooden pole until you reach a small platform that is high up in the air and you have to jump off and touch an orange ball. Some people were very scared but others were really excited.

In the Giant Swing you get harnessed to a rope while the rest of your team members pull another rope that pulls you upwards to as high as you want. Then you get dropped and you start swinging from side to side. A lot of people were determined to get all the way to the top, but some were frightened.

In the Initiative course you have to get through obstacles by taking initiative and working as a team. If your team works well together it was significantly easier.

On Wednesday and Thursday night we had a night walk, talent show and disco. In the night walk we had to follow a track that went around the whole camp and once we got back we had a campfire. Thursday night we had both the talent show and the disco and we had lots of amazing and energetic performances such as dancing, singing, comedy and magic.

We ate all of our meals in a chapel and we had a wide variety of different foods. Some liked it and some didn’t. We had breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner. For breakfast we had cereal and toast, for lunch we had burger rolls and wraps, and for dinner we had pasta with salad and chicken with vegetables.

In between our activities we had free time. Some people chose to play volleyball, football, look around the camp or spend time in their cabins. There were also lots of peacocks around the camp and people kept looking and taking photos of them.

On our way back to school everyone was exhausted. When we got back to school our parents were waiting to pick us up. Everyone had a very fun time at camp.
